Personalized Tutoring to Reach Your Goals
Do you need help with grammar, pronunciation, IELTS preparation, essay writing, reading, writing, listening, giving presentations, speaking or conversation skills? I can help you!
Language learning has fascinated me since I was a teenager and a language learner myself. I have taught informally since 1995, decided to make that fascination my job and earned a master's degree in linguistics and a teacher's certificate. Since 2006, I have helped countless students have fun while learning the English language at various schools such as Simon Fraser University, Capilano University, the University of British Columbia, and Langara College.
Unlike in a classroom, a tutor can focus directly on the student's needs. No time is wasted, and everything the teacher and student discuss directly benefits the student. It follows that with a tutor, you, the student, learn more effectively, have more fun, and need fewer hours to learn what you need to learn because the lessons are focused on your interests and needs.
Changing one's pronunciation is a challenging task. Some students may lose their accent completely whereas others can work on achieving greater clarity, so listeners can understand them more easily.
In my years of study and teaching, I have become an expert at helping students identify their problems with English pronunciation and find ways to work on them. Let me help you reduce your accent!

The first time we speak or meet, you don’t have to pay anything.
We'll speak for about half an hour during which time we will asses your language needs together. After our meeting, you can send me an email to tell me whether you would like to study with me.
If you decide that I am not the right teacher for you, no problem! Remember, if we don’t like the teacher, studying will not be fun.
"Where and how will we meet?" - These days, online classes via Skype or Zoom are the best.
"How long should we study?" - This is your class, so you decide, but 1 or 1.5 hrs is often a good amount of time.
"How long will I need to improve?" - It depends on how much you already know and how much you practice.
Fumiko (Japan): "Thank you for everything. I really like your class!! You taught me many important things in English, and I was able to understand your lesson without any trouble. I wish I could take your lesson more..."
Every student has unique needs for support. Tell me more about what you are hoping a tutor can do for you, and I will start on a plan to help you get what you need.
